In an article on the Cancer Research UK’s blog, they managed to link Oral Rinses and how it could help patients with HPV-linked throat cancer.

According to a preliminary US study, looking for traces of DNA from HPV in oral rinses from patients with form of throat cancer can help monitor the disease.

What does all of this mean?

The findings of Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore after they analyzed oral rinses from 124 patients with HPV-positive ,could lead to a way to track how the disease responds to treatment, or whether it’s likely to come back.

This means traces of the virus’s DNA can be detected in patients’ oral rinses, and previous research has shown that, in varying cases, the infection may even continue on after treatment.
